A Covid-19 vaccination booster update from the office of Plaid Cymru Arfon
We understand that in line with advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the local health board is offering Covid-19 booster vaccinations to the following groups of people, if a minimum of six months have passed since their second dose:
- those living in residential care homes for older adults;
- all adults aged 50 years or over;
- frontline health and social care workers;
- all those aged 16 to 49 years with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID-19 (as set out in the Green Book), and adult carers; and
- adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals.
The six month gap between the second dose and the booster jab is the current recommendation from the JCVI, a UK-wide group that advises UK health departments on the vaccine programme.
There is no need to contact your GP or a vaccination centre to book your appointment – you will be contacted directly by letter or text message/phone call.
Please be aware of scams relating to the vaccination programme and check that any communication received is from a legitimate source. You will never be asked to pay for the vaccine nor for any financial details when your appointment is arranged.
Further details available here:

Only if you haven't received an invite by six months and one week since your second Covid-19 vaccination should you call 03000 840004 to request an appointment.
We understand that it will not be standard practice to give the flu jab and Covid-19 booster jab at the same time, but there may be a small number of cases where timing and logistics allow the local health board to do this. According to UK Government advice, it is safe to have both at the same time. Should you have any concerns about the flu vaccination and the Covid-19 booster jab, please discuss these with your GP.
