Volunter-run schemes praised by local MP and MS during community visits.
Hywel Williams MP and Siân Gwenllian MS said,
‘We warmly welcome news that these community food schemes will continue with their fantastic work beyond the official ending of shielding.'
'Despite the easing of lockdown, many people remain apprehensive about venturing out to crowded places such as supermarkets, so the continuation of door to door meals, food parcels and deliveries will provide much needed reassurance.’
‘These schemes have been a lifeline for many of our most vulnerable constituents, to those who have been shielding for health reasons, and to those who may be struggling financially because of the pandemic.’
‘What unites these individual schemes is a collective desire to help people, particularly those who are elderly, vulnerable or simply in need of a little extra support during these tough times.’
'These community initiatives have sprung-up across the constituency as a compassionate and caring response to the pandemic and it has been heartening to see local people pulling together and supporting each other.'
‘Having seen for ourselves the work involved in setting up and coordinating these schemes, it is only fitting that those who continue to give their time and effort to help their communities are publicly applauded for doing so.’
Coordinator and Chef at Porthi Pawb, Chris Summers said,
‘I am so pleased that Porthi Pawb has secured additional funding to enable us to continue providing a door to door meal service for the people of Caernarfon, including meals for children over the holidays.’
‘The support we’ve received since the scheme was established has been extraordinary. I’d like to thank all those local groups, organisations and individuals who’ve supported us, not to mention our dedicated team of volunteers, without who’s support, none of this would have been possible.’
