Siân Gwenllian MS & Hywel Williams MP for Arfon have welcomed the news that the Siemens Healthineers healthcare company will create almost 100 new high-quality jobs in Llanberis.
Siemens, with Welsh Government support, will invest in a new centre of excellence for healthcare which will safeguard the 400 existing jobs and create almost a hundred new high quality jobs. Siemens Llanberis will become the global manufacturing base for the company's blood analysis technology and the products manufactured there are used across the world to help diagnose medical conditions.
Sian Gwenllian MS said;
'This is fantastic news for the whole area, and very welcome in the midst of the current economic gloom. Llanberis has a long standing history of embracing innovation including in the slate industry as well as with hydro-electric power. Many thanks to Lord Dafydd Wigley, Osborn Jones and others who were part of this vision that brought the Siemens factory to Llanberis over thirty years ago.
It is wonderful to know that products manufactured at the Llanberis site are used across the world to help diagnose medical conditions. The local workforce are rightly proud to play a huge part in helping others in all parts of the globe through their daily work. Warmest congratulations to them, to the company, the Welsh Government and all involved in this exciting latest development meaning that the Llanberis site is secure for many years to come.
Hywel Williams MP added:
'This welcome announcement signals a significant step forward for Siemens, marking another substantial investment by the company in the local economy, bringing around one hundred highly skilled jobs to the area - investing and creating employment at a time when our economy demands support.'
'I congratulate Siemens on their success in realising their expansion plans. It is a credit to the quality of their work that their products are in such demand.'
