Siân Gwenllian MS Working for the people of Arfon

Friday the 25th of November is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and to mark the date, Arfon’s Assembly member Siân Gwenllian visited a centre that runs a national help line, Live Fear Free, located in the Arfon constituency.

Arfon Assembly Member Siân Gwenllian’s campaign to have a Medical School established in Bangor is gathering momentum and support. Following the endorsements of two medical students last week two highly respected consultants have given their names to the campaign. Dr Rhys Davies is a Consultant Neurologist at Walton, Liverpool; and Mr Phillip Moore is a Consultant Surgeon at the Ear, Nose and Throat Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

Plaid Cymru Member of Parliament for Arfon Hywel Williams and Assembly Member Siân Gwenllian have called on the Welsh Government to provide a full explanation as to why planned measures to prevent repeated flooding on the A55 in Abergwyngregyn have still not begun.

With the lead up to Christmas underway, Usdaw’s ‘Freedom From Fear Campaign’ aims to highlight and prevent violence, threats and abuse against shopworkers. Usdaw is a Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers, and their recent annual survey found that more than 300 shopworkers are abused or assaulted simply for doing their job every day.

A colourful flower bed was opened by Sian Gwenllian, Assembly Member at the entrance to Wales' third biggest housing estate at Maegeirchen, Bangor.
