Plaid Cymru Arfon is promoting the You Can Be That Nurse campaign during their Coffee Morning to raise money for Tŷ Gobaith children's hospice tomorrow.
The campaign – launched by the Together For Shorter Lives, of which Ty Gobaith is a member - encourages nurses to consider a career in children’s palliative care, and highlights how rewarding the role can be.
There is currently a shortage of children’s palliative care nurses, and this is already having a negative impact on the care provided to children and families. The Plaid Christmas Coffee Morning is raising money for Tŷ Gobaith, the hospice for life-limited children and young people in the Conwy valley that serves more than 80 families throughout north Wales.
All proceeds will go to Tŷ Gobaith in memory of Elis Wynne Griffiths, much-loved son of Ruth and Bryn from Llanrug, who was cared for by Tŷ Gobaith nurses both at home and in the hospice, and who received palliative before his sad death in aged just two years old.
Ruth Griffiths said, "We will always be thankful for the care and love Elis received at Tŷ Gobaith. He used to love going there to play because it's such a happy and positive place. People have an idea that children's hospices are sad and depressing places but they're not at all. The work done by Tŷ Gobaith nurses makes such a difference to the lives of families like ours."
Siân Gwenllian added, "We will be extending a warm welcome to all at the Plaid office in Caernarfon between 12.30-14.30 tomorrow (Friday). This is a very worthy cause that I am very pleased to be supporting’’.
