Maesgeirchen colourful flowerbed

A colourful flower bed was opened by Sian Gwenllian, Assembly Member at the entrance to Wales' third biggest housing estate at Maegeirchen, Bangor.

Sian Gwenllian said: "This is a lovely feature, welcoming everyone to the estate. Gwynedd Councillor Nigel Pickavance is to be commended for coming up with this idea. The project has helped a number of people gain invaluable skills. Well done everyone!"

The project was funded by Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd, Communities First and Wynne's Construction, who is building a new school on the estate for Gwynedd Council.

Communities First also funded an environmental course which included building the raised bed, with all the volunteers who took part gaining qualifications from the project.

The slate was donated by Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda. Thomas James Cockbill of Wild Elements and Andrew Davies of Partneriaeth Maesgeirchen Partnership Fast Track helped deliver the whole project.
