Education sector needs clarity - Sian Gwenllian AM

Reacting to the mixed messages the Labour First Minister delivered in an interview with the BBC’s Andrew Marr yesterday, Plaid Cymru’s Education Spokesperson Sian Gwenllian said: “There is much confusion about when schools will re-open and the First Minister’s interview yesterday added to the confusion. There is an urgent need for clarity - for the sake of pupils, for parents and for staff – about the steps that must be taken and the criteria that must be met before schools can resume.

“Schools surely cannot open until it is safe and we have got on top of testing and tracing the virus. We are a long way from that scenario as things stand.

“It is vital that we gain the confidence of staff and pupils before there is any serious talk of schools reopening.”
