Arfon MP welcomes work on new Bethesda social housing scheme

Plaid Cymru Member of Parliament for Arfon, Hywel Williams has praised the ‘high quality and attention to detail’ of a new social housing scheme in Bethesda, which aims to meet the growing needs of local families on the local authority waiting list.

The local MP was given a site tour of Llety’r Adar on the Hen Orsaf site in Bethesda which when completed, will comprise of five bungalows for the elderly and twelve houses with private gardens and parking.

The new scheme developed by housing association Grŵp Cynefin and which is expected to be completed later this spring aims to address the shortage of small to medium 2-to-3-bedroom accommodation in the area for families, couples, and the elderly.

Commenting following his visit, Hywel Williams MP said:

‘The Llety’r Adar social housing development on the Hen Orsaf site in Bethesda is very much welcomed and will help alleviate some of the significant pressures for social housing in Bethesda and surrounding communities.’

‘These are homes of the highest quality, built to be in keeping with the local natural environment and reflecting the area’s long history with the slate industry. They will be ideal homes for those on the local housing list.’

‘These homes will help to address a key local housing need and create high-quality homes built to the highest safety and green energy standards, ensuring that they are not just affordable to rent, but more affordable to run.’

‘I was delighted to be taken around the site and it is great to see the project progressing well. I thank Grŵp Cynefin for their vision in bringing this project forward and to all partners involved in the design and construction of these much-needed new homes.’

Grŵp Cynefin Director of Innovation and Growth, Mel Evans said:

‘It was a pleasure to welcome Hywel Williams MP to view Grŵp Cynefins latest development in Bethesda.

‘The public meetings to introduce the Llety’r Adar scheme to the local community has been extremely successful, and an opportunity to explain how to get on the tenancy list in plenty of time.’

‘We are proud to be able to offer homes of this quality and variety to the local people of the Bethesda area.’
